The Dreams Of A Nightmare

She called his name last night
For the first time he did not care
She knows that she's lost him
To the dreams of a nightmare

He's somewhere fighting
His fragile self esteem
Mending his broken ego
In the arms of a living lying dream

And she cries for the chancing
Of the petty war she fought
Out chanced the chances
Of a heart she sold and bought

As the moonlight dances on her skin
Like the fingers of a stranger
Reminiscent of thunder stars
And that old holy song of mystery and danger

He's out there somewhere
Fighting his fragile self esteem
Mending his broken ego
In the arms of a living lying dream

She paints a story back in time
Of a careless burning at the stake
Dancing with the embers
She used to scorch her own fate

And he's out there somewhere
Fighting his fragile self esteem
Mending his broken ego
In the arms of a living lying dream

She called his name last night
For the first time he did not care
She knows she finally lost him
To the dreams of a nightmare

Crash and Burn

Mama was a gambling gal
Put a nickel in the slot and I come out
100 miles per hour down a red mud road
Life's a highway
I gotta see where it goes

They say flying too high
Will burn you down
But I never learned
The low way around
They say moving too fast
Your bound to crash
But I was born without brakes
So I can't slow down

Lighting a fire
Around every turn
Life's a party
I'm gonna crash and burn

They said I looked like angel
On the day I was born
They never thought to check
For my horns

A hell raising man
Eating pussy and pills
Never worried what it costs
Cause I don't pay bills

Lighting a fire
Around every turn
Life's a party
I came to crash and burn

From Himself

With one last "wish you well"
The Angels went out to play
Innocent without knowing
They spread their wings and flew away
And they left
Him with no one to save him from himself

Cigarettes on the counter
Jim beam on the floor
Looking in the mirror
Not recognizing the face he has seen
One hundred million times before

And the darkness
Hits so cold
When he thinks of the angel harem
That he sold
For one hundred million dollars worth of worthless gold

And the smile on his face
Hides the place
On the dark side where he dwells
With no one around
To save him from himself

He is riddled with stories
And illusions of a smile
Of a long ago dream
That used to seem worthwhile

No one says
Because no one knows
Just when it will come
Terrorized by the demons
He was born with dying from

He is haunted by the traces
Of the pretty life he left
Terrorized by the places
Touching him but no one else
An easy masquerade
Marching a 40 year parade
Until no one was left
To save him from himself

And he tried to leave some laughter
And some honest make believe
A little more pretty to the pretty world
That will be sadder when he leaves

An empty notebook
In a rocking world of poetry
And his burden rested with the cause
Of making love and being free

He gave them one last "wish you well"
As the Angels went out to play
Smiling as they innocently spread their wings and flew away
The burden left
With no more reason to save him from himself
