Bombs and Lipstick

What if she wasn't a stone
What if she didn't have to walk alone
With a backpack of bombs

I heard dear mother say
You will be overweight
And more make up would surely pay

And the war horses were rode
A backpack of bombs explode
Was there another way...
I heard dear mother say...

And the night was so long
And the night was so long

Killing in the name of peace
Freedom is slavery
Blowing kisses from your knees
A little more makeup if you please

Sweeter memories from a different child
Gnashing teeth from a drunken fist
Assembled in the garden repaid with echoes from a stabled beast
There must be more to this

Somehow it all makes sense

With a backpack full of bombs
She puts her makeup on
I heard dear mother say
Baby, your love is gone...

And the night was so long
And the night was so long

I hope I never cross your mind

Oh baby I hope
I never cross your mind
And you never stop to think about
Everything you left behind
And all the reasons why

Just say goodbye

I heard about you
Hey I heard you're doing well
I guess I am still the same
Somewhere between half crazy and raising hell

I guess that's enough to know
From there we should let it go
I haven't seen a sequel yet
To measure up or make me forget
The magic of that very first show

So baby I hope
I never cross your mind
Hope you never stop to think about everything you left behind
And all the reasons why

Just say goodbye

Sure there was a time
I thought it would never end
How I wished you'd come back to me
And we'd call each other friend

That was just wishing on the wind

Time changes everything
And wild hearts must roam free
I hope you find everything you're searching for
But I hope you never think to look for me

Oh baby I hope
I never cross your mind
I hope you never stop to think about
Everything you left behind
And all the reasons why

Just say goodbye

Me And You

Looking back at the time
And the lines
Of the stories that never quite got told
Looking back here and there
At bits and pieces, fragments of a rhyme
Clearing my old mind
Of the grudges I do not hold

And maybe somewhere down a six string
Near a green highway sign
That reads mile marker 192
You will find a piece of me
Lost to a suppressed memory
And the story will ring of fiction
But I swear to god it's true
There was a time, sweeter than yesterday's wine,
There was a time for me and you

We know the years have changed our traveling plans,
With a hardened heart, you went east to claim your fortune
And most likely you can find me
Camped somewhere near the rio grande

It's true that our freedom was the most important thing there was
Ain't it funny now, something that seems so simple,
Can mean something so different to the two of us

And it turned out so different
Than the pictures that we painted
In the words of the fairytales
You used to ask me to write
I guess I found salvation
In the words of a fable
About an unblemished princess
With a crown that turned out to be pyrite

And maybe somewhere down a six string
Near a green highway sign
That reads mile marker 192
You will find a piece of me
Lost to a suppressed memory
And the story will ring of fiction
But I swear to god it's true
There was a time, sweeter than yesterday's wine,
There was a time for me and you

From the Carolina's to Colorado
So many black tops of asylum
Running from the thing I was most scared to leave
So many bottles and full throttle
Thousands of highway miles
And a few young girls who didn't mind granting my reprieve

We know the years have changed our traveling plans,
With a hardened heart, you went east to claim your fortune,
And most likely you can find me
Camped somewhere near the rio grande

Hey Cowboy

And she said "Cowboy, why don't you write a song for me
You don't have to keep singing
That same sad song
About the one who done you wrong
Why don't you write about the one who set you free
Hey Cowboy, why don't you write a song for me?"

She was young and pretty
And half near as lonesome as me
She called me cowboy
And said I was lonesome and free
She said "hey Cowboy, why don't ya write a song for me"

She could tell there was something
Inside of me gone wrong
As she listened closely
And watched me sing my song
She said "hey Cowboy, you ain't the only one been done wrong"

She said "don't be scared now baby
I know you've been hurt before
By some pretty fool
Who couldn't hold you anymore
Don't worry baby, I know you get the urge to roam
You won't ever have to go alone
You can take me or I will stay
But I'll be here when you get home
I'll never run away

But hey hey

Hey cowboy why don't you write a song for me
You don't have to keep singing that same sad song
About the one that done ya wrong
Why don't you write about the one who set you free
Hey Cowboy, why don't you write a song for me

Hey Cowboy, write a song for me"

Wild Crazy Beautiful

She's a wild crazy beautiful girl
Living In a wild crazy beautiful world

She likes horses and wildflowers
Sunsets at the beach and thunder showers

She's a wild crazy beautiful girl
Living in a wild crazy beautiful world

Forever young and restless
The perfect definition of art
As it echoes through her eyes
And beats in her heart

I call her princess
Because that's what she is to me
The original flawless design
Every woman was intended to be

She's a wild crazy beautiful girl
Living in a wild crazy beautiful world

I know I have lived without her
But I can't remember when
I pray to God
I'll never remember it again

She's a wild crazy beautiful girl
Making this a wild crazy beautiful world

As the moon overtakes the sunshine
And daylight surrenders to night time
Every next time is just like the first time
As she touches away my pain
And her laughter fills the valley
Like a big city skyline

She likes horses and wildflowers
Quiet country sunsets and roaring thunder showers

She's a wild crazy beautiful girl
Making this a wild crazy beautiful world

She's a wild crazy beautiful girl
Making this a wild crazy beautiful world
